Educational offerings at our English School Alicante for all levels
Language learning takes place every day in our classrooms, from the early stages of education to pre-university years.
Early Years
At this stage, children are introduced to English through adapted activities, assimilating the language at the same pace as they learn their mother tongue. They learn basic vocabulary, simple phrases and become familiar with the sounds of the language through the International Early Years Program.
Primary
Through the International Primary Curriculum, students expand their vocabulary and grammatical structures. They practise reading, writing, listening and speaking, integrating English into everyday and academic subjects.
Secondary
Students deepen their grammar, reading comprehension and speaking and writing skills. Emphasis is placed on conversation, debates and presentations, as well as preparation for official exams. At Secondary level, two programmes are combined. On the one hand, the National Curriculum or the current Spanish Education Law and, on the other hand, the Middle Years Programme of the International Baccalaureate Organisation.
Sixth Form & IB Programme (International Baccalaureate)
During the International Baccalaureate, students perfect their command of the language, tackling complex texts, essays and advanced discussions. They prepare for international examinations and higher studies in English.
The school offers two clearly differentiated pathways at this stage of Bachillerato, guaranteeing access to national and international universities with both programmes: Spanish Programme, taught in Spanish, which incorporates some of the core components of the International Diploma Programme, and International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme.
Admission and enrolment process
The admissions process at our English school in Alicante begins with an interview and a visit to the school by the parents. Depending on the stage of education it is possible to set a test for the student. Our school assesses the application and, if appropriate, confirms the application and sends the necessary documentation.
In order to begin the enrolment process at Newton College, it is important to bear in mind the following information:
- A visit with the family and the pupil will be necessary for admission to the infant stage.
- From YEAR 3 (Primary 2) onwards, the pupil must take an entrance test in English, Spanish and Maths. Families must bring their child’s report cards from the last three years so that we can know the child’s academic record.
- Coordination and management will assess each case individually, before a formal offer of a place is made.
